National Bike to Work Week

This week, May 17-21, is National Bike to Work Week. Last year I biked to work a few times, but never really got in the habit of it. Since I have moved closer and now only have a 3.2 mile commute, I really have no excuses.

Since it is Bike to Work Week, and the weather forecast was favorable for today and tomorrow, I decided it was a great time to start commuting via bike.

The weather was beautiful, and the ride to work went without a hitch. I got to work in plenty of time, and went to the bathroom to change into my work clothes. I had a nice polo shirt, khaki pants, a fresh pair of socks, and deodorant to freshen up a bit. I then looked into my backpack to pull out the last essential item. Much to my dismay, I had forgotten to pack a fresh pair of undies!

Now I was faced with two choices, wear my bike shorts and feel like I was wearing a diaper all day long, or go commando. I chose the latter.

I have done this before. However, it was not for an entire day of work. I couldn't help but remember the Seinfeld episode where Kramer decides to stop wearing underwear all together. Here's Kramer's feeling on his experience of 'going commando'....

The day ended up going fine, but I really don't want to have to repeat the experience anytime soon, as it wasn't the most comfortable option!

Hoping that my future bike commutes end with having underwear in my backpack.
