Anyways, we attended her parents church on Sunday morning, and one of the worship leaders at Connection Pointe Christian Church sang a song, Follow You by Leeland ft. Brandon Heath. It has since become on of my favorites.
Here's the song and video to go with from YouTube.
Initially there wasn't anything in particular that drew me to it. I just liked how it sounded. The more I listened to it, the more the lyrics kind of got me thinking.
What exactly am I doing to follow Christ into the homes of the broken, or meet the needs of the poor and needy? I know I am good at coming up with excuses though for not doing those types of things. My favorite seems to be, "I don't have time right now," but I must be pretty naive if I think I will one day all the sudden have an influx of extra time.
I do a pretty good job at making time to fit in my favorite TV shows, or opening my schedule at work to fit in some overtime for more money, or seeing what everyone is up to on Facebook. And to be clear I am not saying that there is anything wrong with those things, they are just things that I do happen to make time for.
I don't think the homes of the broken, or the poor and needy have to be a plane ride away in another country. Sometimes I get the thought in my head that in order to serve the less fortunate or unchurched/non- followers of Christ, I need to do so on some grand-scale mission trip. I tend to forget about how much opportunity I have around me on a daily basis right here in Kalamazoo.
'Cause Faith without works is dead
And on the cross your blood was shed
So how could I not give it away so freely?
